At the annual meeting of the Wildwoods Foundation Administrative Board on July 27, 2009 new board officers were elected.
Elected as Board Chair was Ryan Carpio. Mr. Carpio, who serves as the Silver Lake Deputy for the office of City Council President Eric Garcetti in Council District 13, has a background in education and nonprofit children's services.
Robert T. De Forest, a Vice President with Phoenix Realty Group, was elected as Vice-Chair. Mr. De Forest holds an MBA and a Masters in Urban Planning from UCLA and has a long association with the Wildwoods Foundation, since his days as Lead Naturalist with the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority
Taking over the duties of Board Secretary is Jullian-Harris Calvin. Ms. Calvin serves as the Director of Administration for City Councilman Tom LaBonge in Council District 4.
Wildwoods Foundation founder and executive director Dwain Wilson said "We are excited about our new officers. They bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the table and I think that will have a definite effect on the organization. I think they will shepherd us through this tough economy and help us expand and diversify as the opportunities present. I look forward to working with them in the future."
Board officers serve a term of two years.
Mr. Wilson went on to say "We are also extremely thankful for the service of our departing officers, Chair Jordan Ramer, Vice-Chair Stephanie Horn and Secretary Charles Taylor. They were instrumental in helping Wildwoods grow from a tiny group serving only a couple of schools to a more substantial organization with tremendous potential."
