The Wildwoods Foundation proudly announces our third year as an Official Charity of the Los Angeles Marathon. This year’s Marathon date is on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, 2009.
There are three events that are part of the LA Marathon: the LA Bike Tour, the 5K Run/Walk and the Marathon itself.
As usual, Team Wildwoods will have a strong showing in the LA Bike Tour, but this year we’re adding something new! We’re teaming up with our Full Circle schools to allow students to participate in the 5K to raise funds to support the Full Circle program at their school.
There are other changes at the Marathon that you may have heard about, including the new 5/25 date and new, local owners.
While there are new owners and a new date, 2009 marks a return to the course routes of earlier years for both the Marathon and the Acura LA Bike Tour. The Marathon will begin and end downtown starting at 6th and Figueroa with the finish line on Flower between 5th and 6th Streets. The LA Bike Tour will begin and end at the USC campus.
These LA Marathon facts remain the same:
• More than 26 miles of streets will be closed.
• More than 25,000 runners and walkers and more than 15,000 bike riders will take to those streets.
• Thousands more – citizens of every size, shape and color – will line those streets to cheer on the runners, walkers and riders.
The LA Marathon is a great day to be a part of LA and it’s a great way to help get the word out about the work that we do.
