Full Circle

Our flagship school program, Full Circle is an academically integrated nature-based community-building program for elementary school classes. Starting with the dynamic relationships that exist in an ecosystem as the introduction, Full Circle uses ecology as a springboard to help children understand the importance of those same dynamics in their own community: Interdependence, Diversity and Sustainability.

Working with elementary school classes on a weekly basis for eight weeks, Full Circle provides students a series of teambuilding and exploration-based activities along with experiential learning opportunities that combine natural science, physics, math, composition, photography, computer technology and arts & crafts.

By developing an understanding of the value of diversity and of their own personal impact upon the natural world and their community, students take an important step toward becoming socially responsible individuals. It is this focus on individual responsibility that sets Full Circle apart from traditional outdoor or nature-based programs.

At the conclusion of each Full Circle program, students put that thinking into action on a larger scale by developing and implementing a community service project based on the needs that they identify in their neighborhood.

Additionally, each participating class develops a web site through our online learning component, Web of Our World. With all content - photos & text - developed entirely by the students, Web of Our World is wonderful way to see the world through a child’s eyes.
