Tribes

Tribes: a Wildwoods family day camp brings families together by having them engage in the day-to-day activities that California families practiced hundreds of years ago in native cultures.

These were moments when families came together to share and teach and learn. Lessons of the elders were passed on to the young. Traditions and oral histories passed from one generation to the next. The skills that the children acquired were not only necessary for the families’ survival, but they were rites of passage into adulthood. This is the spirit in which we create Tribes.

At Wildwoods, we believe that giving families the opportunity to slow down, talk and work together through these simple tasks and activities will also give them the opportunity to bond with each other in a new and different way. Without the distraction of television, radio or video games families may bond in new ways through old ways.

The Tribes program is conducted in English and Spanish.  Children must be 8 or older.

With a spectacular view of the downtown Los Angeles skyline, the Tribes program is based at the beautiful Vista Hermosa Park, 100 N. Toluca St., Los Angeles, CA 90026.

The Tribes program is free to all families, but reservations are required. Call (213) 250-1100 to reserve your space now.

The Tribes program is made possible through the generous support of the Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority.
